Conditions have not changed in the last 8 weeks, so the situation is unchanged, the winter crops: wheat, winter barley and rape are in good to very good condition at the moment – and there’s not too long until we start harvesting the barley, and then the other crops.
We have managed to implement spaying in the periods with dry weather in between rain, so plant protection in winter crops are successful.
Spring crops are sown in stages. It has been raining regularly throughout the period from the beginning of April. Thus in Mizil it rained 340 mm between 6 April and to 6 June. During the winter, we have carried out a major ditch drain project, which has mitigated the water problems to some extent, but it is clear that these amounts of water have influenced the working process strongly.
This means that the spring crops: corn and sunflower – in Oravita’ve got a lot of water just after sowing and germination, which resulted in some areas with water damage, but not to an alarming extent. In Videle still missing seeding of a small area, and in Mizil missing sowing of 100 HA sunflower – which is expected to be abandoned.
Thus, we have great challenges of approx. 400 HA corresponding to approx. 5% of our land, but on the other hand sees the status of winter crops, which account for approx. 70% of the total area, really good.
The spring crops which are sown, are doing acceptable, although the spread in sowing timing, and weather-related sectioning of some fields, causes some challenges with plant protection.
