In Videle the harvest of rape has been completed with a yield of 2.8 t/ha and wheat with a yield of 6.2 t/ha. A few days ago, 20 mm of rain fell, but otherwise it has been warm and dry since 28/6. This can be seen with respect to maize and sunflower. 128 ha maize will be harvested shortly, whilst 78 ha sunflower will be ready for harvesting in 4-5 weeks.
Due to Ecological Focus Areas (EFA), we have 110 ha soya which looks like it will do better than last year, and this year we have had the opportunity to distribute EFA crops across soya, alfalfa and aftercrops.
In Mizil/Amaru the harvest of rape was completed with a yield of 3.7 t/ha, whilst the wheat yield was 6.0 t/ha. Here, all wheat is cultivated as seeding, cleaned and dressed for all 3 properties. New types are continuously taken in, thus enabling us to choose the best. The harvest on these 2 properties has been completed without any major problems.
There have, on the other hand, been more than enough problems in Oravita. Last winter we carried out comprehensive service on our combine harvesters, but this has proved to be no guarantee of a trouble-free harvest.
Oravita began well with 4 combine harvesters, but after just a few days only one was still running. We had 1 Claas with a blown engine and 2 Challengers with electronic faults that could not be remedied either domestically or indeed outside the country. Two machines were hired and 1 machine relocated from Videle, but a number of good days of harvest were lost. The rain and very wet fields are now proving to be a major challenge, and the harvest cannot be resumed before there are several days of dry weather. On 16/8 help was received from a neighbour with a tracked vehicle.
The good news is the yield, which in the case of rape saw a harvest of 4.4 t/ha, whilst wheat returned a yield of 6.8 t/h. Around 350 ha remains to be harvested.
443 ha sunflower and 316 ha maize are still green and will benefit from the wet weather.
Overall, we have yields of rape and wheat that to date are in excess of budgeted figures, whilst all rape has been sold at prices over budget.
500 tonnes of wheat that were surplus to silo capacity have been sold in Videle at a price of DKK 92/100 kg, and we are hoping for better prices later in the year.
There is nothing new to report with respect to the sale of Oravita, but work is ongoing with various potential buyers.
