The harvest is now started in Romania. First harvested crop is Winter Barley of which we only have 174 HA in Oravita. Here’s yield 6 tons per. HA. Grain with nice large grains harvested dry and in good quality.
We have also harvested some of the rape in Videle, the part from the most problematic first year´s fields, and therefore were sprayed down in order to clean the fields. Here, the yields are not impressive, but the fields are now in operation and ready to be sown or, for some areas, to be part of land swap transactions in order to gather better compacted fields.
Wheat harvest has also started up, and the first – very precarious – part results suggest very acceptable, but it is still too early to say anything concrete about the results of the wheat.
The weather was indeed very wet during month of March, which to some extent have influenced rape fields in particular, as mentioned above, in Videle, and in some hollows etc. in Oravita, but the rest of rape fields in Oravita look reasonable. In Mizil rape r fields are really good. Rape harvest will soon start on all three sites.
Spring started very wet with major challenges for the spring sowing. As shown below, there is now good harvest conditions, and sometimes will harvest interrupted by a rainy day – which spring crops benefits from, so spring crops are growing very well these days.
